29/10/2011: Ficcadenti: "Lazio are strong, but we have no fear"

Massimo Ficcadenti has surprised many this season. Despite doing what was expected last season with Cesena, the newly promoted club decided not to renew his contract. This summer the italian coach got an offer from the sardinian club Cagliari. Currently Ficcadenti and his men are 7th on the table and has had a fine start to the season. At home they have not lost this season and despite facing a 3rd placed Lazio the coach has no fear of his opponents:

"Lazio is stronger then last season. Edy Reja has personality, experience and great strikers at his disposal. They can do well in the league this season. Also the qualities of the goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is well known by us. Tomorrow we face a strong team."

Ficcadenti seems to have a clear plan how to beat the capital club: "We need to play with greater determination and be more clinical in front of goal. So far we have lacked some goals that could have brought us more points. Especially against Napoli and Udinese we had many chances to get 3 points. I have some problems with injuries and suspension tomorrow. El Kabir is not available, in the left midfield role I have to choice between Ekdal and Rui Sampaio. I am not sure yet."

Last weekend Cagliari managed a draw against Cesena away, something the coach was not too happy about: "We had alot of possesion in the first half, and we played even better in the second half. The grass gave us problems, our players complained about the artificial grass. We have two more matches before the break now. The break will give us a much needed rest."
