The Brazilian midfielder Ederson has already been linked to Lazio several times over the last years. With his contract set to expire in June 2012, Ederson will be available for free in January. The midfield told Radio Sport 24 that he would not mind to play in Italy in the future:

"The renewal with Lyon is still far away. The club wants to renew, but we have yet to reach an agreement. The situation is complicated and I feel they are pressuring me to sign a new contract. For now I just have to stay calm, and I am only thinking about doing my best. One thing that is certain is that it is important for me to play. I had finally got a chance with the national team, but then I got injured. It took me a long time to get back to the highest level. Now I will see if something happens in January. I will let my agent handle this."

When Ederson were linked with Lazio there seemed to be a problem that he was a non-EU player. The brazilian is now trying to obtain an italian passport: "I am trying to get my italian passport. I am married to an italian woman and I also have a son. I have already filled out all the forms to obtain nationality. Of course, if I were to play in Italy things would be alot easier. However, I can confirm this will be resolved within next year."

When asked Ederson still leave the door open about a possible move to Lazio: "Lazio already have a great brazilian presence, with Hernanes, Dias and Matuzalem. That would definitely make it easier to adjust for me. I follow italian football alot. I see that the brazilian style is appriciated in Italy, and I like the fact that there are many at Lazio. In my opinion Lazio now has a very strong team with the arrivals of Klose and Cissé. If they continue to do well they can fight for the Scudetto. For now I am under contract with Lyon, and that I have to respect, but in football anything is possible so we will see what happens in the future."
