Hernanes: Coach Menezes gave him a rare start in the away match against Gabon. Unlike his past apperances for the Seleção Hernanes started in the attacking midfield position similar to his role at Lazio. The midfielder played well for the whole match and in the 34th minute he scored his first goal for Brazil with a header. Naturally, Hernanes was happy about finding the net for his country: "I played in a more attacking role and really wanted to score a goal. This role makes me happy, and I hope that the coach will play me in this position again." Hernanes is expected to feature again when Brazil will play Egypt in a friendly on tuesday.

Lorik Cana: The Albania captain started as usual as a centreback at home against Azerbaijan but was unable to help his team to the victory. It was surprisingly Azerbaijan that took the lead in the 22th minute with a goal from Rauf Aliyev. Albania was never able to come back from the goal and lost the match. Next for Cana is another friendly, against Macedonia on tuesday.

Senad Lulic: Started as a left winger in the important qualifying match against Portugal in Zenica. With Portugal dominating the first half Lulic was needed mostly in defence to help out left back Salihovic. In the second half Bosnia made some changes to try and get a goal and when Salihovic was taken off Lulic was moved down to left back. Despite creating chances Bosnia & Herzegovina towards the end the match ended in a draw. Lulic and his team mates will now have a difficult task ahead when they travel to Portugal on tuesday.

Stefan Radu: After several issues in the past Radu was finally back with the national team. In this friendly international Romania traveled to Belgium, but in the end lost 2-1 after missing a penalty. Stefan Radu will have to wait to get a chance with the national team after he spent the entire match on the bench. Romania will play another friendly away from home on tuesday, when they travel to Greece. Radu will most likely get his chance then.

Alvaro Gonzalez: El Tata and Uruguay hosted Chile at home in Montevideo. Despite not featuring lately for Lazio because of injury problems Gonzalez was trusted to start against Chile in a midfield role. In the end this will be remembered as Luiz Suarez night. Uruguay won the match 4-0 with Suarez scoring all the goals. Gonzalez was involved in the first two goals. On the opening goal he won the ball in the midfield and start a counter attack for his team. Then on the second goal he made a cross in the box where eventually Suarez scored again. Next for Uruguay is a friendly versus Italy in Rome.

Luca Crescenzi: The Primavera captain played his first for an Italian National Team when the U20-squad played Ghana at home. Crescenzi started on the bench and saw his teammates make it 3-0 after only 27 minutes. At half time coach Luigi Di Biagio made 10 changes including Crescenzi and the centreback help his team mates win 3-0 with keeping a clean sheet.

Miroslav Klose is still having problems with his knee and stayed in Rome when his fellow germans traveled to Kiev to play Ukraine. He is however fit now and will travel to Hamburg to join his team mates when they host Netherlands on tuesday.
