  14/11/2011: "Marchetti has adjusted quickly"

Lazio legend Luca Marchegiani spoke to Il Tempo about the new goalkeeper Marchetti. He is surprised how well Marchetti is doing after only a couple months:

"I am surprised. It is not easy to adjust so soon. The truth is that you can train all you want, but in the end what you do on the field is all that matters. It is hard to keep focused for 90 minutes. This is something that come from continuity, and this Federico mastered very quickly.

Is his career with the Azzurri already over?
"Absolutely not. In my opinion Prandelli has done the right thing with not calling him up yet. It would be too much responsibilities, since he has just started playing regulary again. Marchetti must now continue on what he has done well so far and focus on Lazio. There is still much time before the EURO's."

What are Marchetti's strenghts?
"I have always liked him alot. As a shot stopper he is one of the best. He is also very brave when rushing out. Maybe that was something Muslera did not do. In my opinion the Uruguayan is one of the best in the world. He started out badly but with commitment and humility he turned out great. Remember that he was very young when he arrived."

Is the pressure high in a city like Rome?
"Yes. Very, but the capital can also give you so much. When I compare it to my days, I think the situation is better now because the team is doing really well when the expectations were not so high. The climate is more relaxed now."

Another former Lazio goalkeeper, who also won the scudetto with the club is Felice Pulici. He also spoke about the new goalkeeper:

"I have followed Marchetti closely since his time at AlbinoLeffe. I am glady he turned out to be a great goalkeeper. He is definitely a great player who makes good saves and is very secure. I like the way he plays. It is a little similar to how I played I guess, but he is more physical. When he came to Rome he had to adjust to a new life but he has adjusted well.
