Lazio came in to this match hoping for 3 points after the late defeat against Juventus. Reja said before the match that they would approach it like it was a match versus Milan or Napoli.
It was clear from the start that the players were highly motivated. In the first minutes we saw a much more attacking Lazio then previous in the season. However Lecce who has been in great form lately were desperate for 3 points and they also worked hard so Lazio struggled to create any big chances.
The lineup from Reja was much like expected. He started Candreva and Gonzalez on the sides with Rocchi up front. In the attacking midfield position he was forced to play Hernanes because of Mauri's suspension. The Brazilian has had a rough month with bad form and less playing time and have lately been rumoured to leave Lazio at the end of the season.
They key duel of the match was the Spanish left back Javier Garrido who did a great job in the first half stopping the Colombian sensation Juan Cuadrado. The stand-out man for Lazio was however the Brazilian midfielder Matuzalem. He looked to be back in shape when he put in some crucial tackles, held well on to the ball and provided some great passes with his vision.
When the referee blew the whistle at 46 minutes Lecce were the team with the biggest chance of the half when Cuadrado hit the crossbar behind Marchetti.
After the break Hernanes was again substituted early when Edy Reja gave a rare chance to striker Emiliano Alfaro. Lecce started out as the better then in the second half playing in front of Lazio's goal. In the middle of the half they had a huge chance when Cuadrado set up Corvia who somehow could not hit the target.
Lazio started attacking more after that and it was not before the 82th minute they were rewarded. Lionel Scaloni attacked on the right side and put in a beautiful cross to Matuzalem who headed the ball in the back of the net.
After this Lazio did the mistake to try and hold on to the lead. Reja substituted Matuzalem for centreback Andre Dias and in the last minutes it was Lecce that looked most likely to score.
Four minutes were added and in the 92th minute Lecce finally got their reward. After some chaos in the box Bojinov managed to get the ball and put it behind Marchetti. Lecce celebrated like crazy and Reja showed his anger on the sidelines.
With the first draw of the year for Lazio the players absolutely need a good result against Novara on Wednesday. After the loss against Napoli at San Paolo Novara is now 14 points from safety and Lazio can make sure they will play in Serie B next season with a victory at Stadio Silvio Piola.

Massive performance and his goal deserved to be the winner. Put in several great tackles, held on to the ball to keep possesion and his passes started several attacks.

| I hope we do not qualify for the Champions League and we get a better coach for next season. The decision by Edy Reja to replace Alfaro with Cana was shocking even though Rozzi was on the bench. While the German and Spanish League are abound with home made german and spanish youngsters, coaches here do not want to risk giving even a few minutes for people who do well in Primavera |
